Course Structure 

The Conversational Japanese Language Course is made up of 13 modules. Each module has 6 lessons of 90 minutes over 6 weeks. The Starter A1 level includes 4 modules and can be completed in 8 months:

  • Course books: Marugoto series, Japanese Language and Culture A1 - A2/B1 
  • Classes are held on Zoom 
  • Class size is a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 7 students. 
  • You can take a free trial class before applying if you would like.

Starter A1-1 (Module 1, Complete beginner) 

⚠️ Not offered in May and June ⚠️  

  • The class for complete beginners is normally offered once a year in January. If there are sufficient requests, a new class can be offered within a few months. If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact me.
  •  Free trial class for complete beginners is available. ➡️  Free Trial Registration 
  • It is not required to be able to read Hiragana (Japanese characters) to join this class.

Starter A1-3 (Module 3, Class B)

  • Application deadline: Thursday, 9 July 2026
  • To participate in this class, it is desirable to be able to read hiragana character by character. 
  • This class will be followed by Module 4 in September and October 2026 


  • Starting level: Beginner A1
  • Class level: Beginner A1+
  • Lesson day: Monday
  • Dates: 13 July – 24 August 2026 (weekly)
  • Time: 17:30 – 19:00 (Amsterdam, Netherlands – CET/CEST)

Elementary 1 A2 (Module 8, Class G)

  • It is required to be able to read Japanese sentences written in Hiragana slowly
  • This class will be followed by Module 9 in September and October 2026


  • Starting level: Elementary A2-
  • Class level: Elementary A2
  • Lesson day: Thursday
  • Dates: 16 July – 20 August 2026 (weekly)
  • Time: 20:20 – 21:50 (Amsterdam, Netherlands – CET/CEST)
  • Fee: €144 (6 lessons, 90 minutes each, over 6 weeks)
  • Class size: Minimum 4, maximum 7 students

Elementary 2 A2 (Module 13_2, Class E) 

  • Class starts: Friday, 10 July 2026
  • Application deadline: Wednesday, 8 July 2026
  • It is required to be able to read Japanese sentences in Hiragana smoothly
  • It is required to know and be able to use the て-form (Te-form) of verbs and the Plain forms
  • This class will be followed by Module 14 in September and October 2026


  • Starting level: Elementary A2
  • Class level: Elementary A2+
  • Lesson day: Friday
  • Dates: 10 July – 21 August 2026 (weekly)
  • Time: 17:20 – 18:50 (Amsterdam, Netherlands – CET/CEST)
  • Fee: €150 (6 lessons, 90 minutes each, over 6 weeks)
  • Class size: Minimum 4, maximum 7 students.

Terms & Conditions

  • Class size is a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 7 students. 
  • The course book is not included in the fee.  
  • You can take a free trial class before applying.  ➜ Free Trial Registration
    A course book is not required for the trial class. 
  • Your position will be confirmed once full payment has been received by the invoice due date. 
  • We will stop accepting applications once all the places are taken.
  • Lesson fee will not be refunded if you are absent from the class. 
  • If there are only 3 applicants, the course can still run with an additional fee of €30 per person (€5 per lesson), if all applicants agree.
